Privacy Policy for Hey Me!

Hey Me! (the "App") is made by Monospace Studio ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains how the App handles information when you use it.
Summary
Hey Me! is designed to be local-first. Your recordings, transcripts, message history, and reminder preferences are stored on your device. We do not require an account, operate advertising or analytics trackers, sell personal information, or collect your messages on our own servers.
Information stored on your device
To provide the App's core features, Hey Me! stores the following on your device:
- Voice recordings that you choose to create.
- Transcripts created for recordings when speech recognition is available and you allow it.
- Message details, including recording duration, creation time, scheduled delivery time, and whether a message has been heard.
- App preferences, including reminder settings, permission-onboarding status, and the number of free messages used.
This information is used only to provide the App's recording, playback, scheduling, and reminder features. It is not uploaded to or stored on servers operated by Monospace Studio.
Permissions and Apple services
Hey Me! asks for permission only when it is needed for a feature you choose to use:
- Microphone: used to record your voice messages.
- Speech Recognition: used to create readable transcripts of your recordings. Speech-recognition processing is provided by Apple's system services and may be handled on-device or by Apple, depending on your device, language, and Apple settings. Apple's handling of this information is governed by its own privacy policy.
- Notifications: used to schedule and show reminders for your messages. These are local notifications scheduled on your device.
You can decline or revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device Settings. If you do, the related feature may not work.
Purchases
Hey Me! offers optional paid features through Apple's in-app purchase system. Purchases and purchase restoration are processed by Apple through StoreKit. We receive only the information needed for the App to determine whether your purchase is active; we do not receive your payment-card information. Apple's processing of purchase information is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Feedback email
If you choose Send Feedback in the App, it opens your email app with a message addressed to derry@monospace.studio. Sending feedback is optional. The email you send, including your email address and any information you include, is received and used to respond to you, provide support, and improve the App. It is handled outside the App's local storage.
What we do not do
We do not:
- Require you to create an account.
- Use third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
- Track you across apps or websites.
- Sell or share your personal information for advertising or marketing purposes.
- Collect, upload, or retain your recordings, transcripts, or local message history on Monospace Studio servers.
Data retention and deletion
You can delete individual messages and their recordings from within the App. Removing the App from your device generally removes its local app data, subject to any device backup, operating-system, or App Store settings you control. Feedback emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you, provide support, maintain records, or meet legal obligations.
Your choices and privacy rights
Because your App content remains on your device, you control it directly through the App and your device settings. To ask about, access, correct, or request deletion of personal information contained in feedback you have sent us, contact us at derry@monospace.studio. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.
Children
Hey Me! is not directed to children under the age at which parental consent is required under applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through feedback email, please contact us so we can address it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the App's features or data practices change. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how information is handled, we will take additional steps where required by law.
