Problem
Enterprise teams running CloudBees CI at scale had no visibility into plugin health across their controller fleet — which plugins were unsupported, outdated, or actively in use across pipelines — making upgrade planning and compliance audits entirely manual.
Solution
Plugin Usage Analyzer: a new analytics dashboard within SDA giving operations teams fleet-wide insight into plugin usage patterns, CloudBees support status, update recency, and distribution across controllers. Alongside it, a workload analytics module surfaced CI queue health and team throughput. The plugin analyzer was validated with the Customer Advisory Board before final UI delivery.
CI intelligence as the bridge between CloudBees CI and CDRO
01 SDA Analytics
As CloudBees CI matured and the broader platform moved toward a Software Delivery Automation rebrand, analytics emerged as the connective layer between two previously separate products — CloudBees CI (enterprise Jenkins) and CloudBees CD/RO (release orchestration). The analytics surface needed to serve a distinct persona: not the developer triggering builds, but the operations lead or platform engineer responsible for the health of the whole CI fleet. Two modules were explored in parallel — workload analytics (controller throughput and job queue health) and plugin usage analytics (fleet-wide plugin hygiene). The plugin analyzer shipped first.
